FooodDude is a curated dining discovery app that connects users with local culinary experiences. At a pivotal stage of growth, the team needed stronger brand cohesion and marketing support to attract early adopters and partners.
My Role
Brought in as a freelance brand designer, I collaborated with the internal team at California Storyboards to refresh FooodDude’s visual identity and support its marketing initiatives. I designed marketing assets (signage, event materials, social content), ensured consistent visuals across digital and print channels, helped plan campaigns and emails, and shaped the brand’s tone and messaging.
The Strategy
I audited the existing brand and identified opportunities to strengthen the logo, typography and color palette. I then developed a flexible visual system that translated across social, email and event touchpoints. Working with marketing, we created messaging pillars that highlighted the app’s curated experiences and community focus.
The Build
Applied and refined FooodDude’s existing brand identity to create cohesive, engaging marketing materials across campaigns and events. Designed on-brand collateral ranging from event signage to digital assets, ensuring a consistent look and feel. Supported early growth efforts through targeted social and email outreach that boosted engagement and strengthened community presence.
The Outcome
FooodDude’s campaigns gained measurable traction with local event attendees and early app users. Event presence grew brand awareness in target markets, while coordinated email and social media pushes increased sign-ups and kept the community engaged. The stronger visual consistency positioned FooodDude as a credible, recognizable player in the local food scene, contributing to the onboarding of additional food truck partners during the campaign period.
Reflection
This project showed me how much a unified brand presence can accelerate early-stage growth. By creating cohesive, event-driven campaigns that carried the same voice and visuals from live events to digital touchpoints, we helped FooodDude stand out in a crowded market. It was a reminder that even in the fast-moving food and events space, consistency is what earns trust and keeps audiences coming back.
